I'm almost certain it is a bell tower. Our early settlers often built their own churches & placed the bell in a ground 'tower' because the building may not have been structurally sound & the roof likely wouldn't support it. One often sees this in rural Ukrainian or other eastern sect/byzantine church in Sask & likely the prairies in general.

Hi Lorraine...I don't know when it was built...As for directions it's on the highway to Pike Lake just outside of Saskatoon and you can see it from the highway..It's not to far from the Saskatoon Berry Farm...I can't remember the highway number though..I just added a better shot of the " Bell Tower"..

Hi Lorraine...I couldn't see one anywhere near the church, but it may be in an area behind the church well away from the highway...There were quite a few people there the day I showed up, so many in fact they had security directing traffic...I was glad they allowed me to get some shots though, as the gate isn't open all that often..

Me again LOL Is that a bell tower on the ground? If it is, I'm guessing it's a Ukrainian or some other Byzantine/Orthodox church? They often put the bells in a ground 'tower' as they were too heavy for the roof. Any info on this church, ie when was it built?
