GhostTownsCanada.ca Membership Information

A membership is now required to access GhostTownsCanada.ca. Click here to get a membership ($15). With your membership you can view and post photos plus access our user forum.

* Exsisting members do not need to buy a membership, your account still works.

Why do we require a membership?

1) To help prevent trespassing of buildings posted on our site.

2) To help prevent theft from buildings on our site.

3) To help prevent theft of photos from our site.

4) To help recover some of costs of running this site & shut out spam.

Sadly, we have learned over the past couple of years that this site has contributed to some behaviour in many towns listed, that has upset folks who own property or live in these places.

In many towns, visitors have been entering properties without permission, in some cases, properties that are not vacant. Sometimes a building may appear vacant, but it is used by the owner for storage, as a workshop, and often a place for a farmer to reside temporally while he\she attends to his farming duties.

Please do not trespass, ask for permission if you can, never assume the building is not being used unless there is 100% no doubt.

As well, we have had many reports of items being stolen. Some TV shows have created an impression that some junk is worth a lot of money, and that this junk is available in forgotten about old buildings. Again, these buildings are owned by someone, taking anything from them is theft, and it is very sad that some folks have been hauling away items that do not belong to them.

Although most cases of vandalism has nothing to do with this website, as there are plenty of candidates in each town for that. It is no coincidence however, that some of the worst damaged places are close to large cities. Smuts, SK for example has had buildings destroyed and even arson.

We hope that by restricting access to the identifiable locations on this site, we can help slow down the traffic to these locations and ensure that most will last a lot longer.
